Mark Kerhliker Silent Key WD9HBF

With profound grief and sadness, Macoupin County ARC lost not only a trusted, valued club member, but also a dear friend to a heart attack. For many hams in our club and for many outside of it, Mark Kerhlikar WD9HBF was the cheerful voice of the weekly K9MCE net held every Thursday evening at 8:30 pm. Mark excelled at welcoming newcomers to our hobby and into our club. Mark served our club as president, Field Day chair and most recently as club secretary. Mark brought a fresh, interesting style to the club minutes.

Mark found his ham radio niche as a rover. He greatly enjoyed participating as a rover in the VHF and up contests. His voice will be missed as he activated grids on 6 meters, 2 meters and 70 centimeters. In addition to being a member of K9MCE, Mark also was an ARRL member and a member of the Central States VHF Society. Mark also loved nature and dog sledding and snow. While most of us shunned the thought of snow, Mark embraced and reveled in it! Winters will not be the same without Mark. Although Mark loved church, winters, dog sledding, teaching music and ham radio, without a doubt, his greatest love was for his bride Denise. Mark was a dedicated husband.

Please keep Denise and the entire Kerhlikar family in your thoughts and prayers.
